What / how to get a lower band?

Hey guys, I was wondering what is a good bass for the price of 1000-1500, im thinking of Yamaha, but since im a drummer, I know nothing about electric guitars, etc. I use the drum kit export of pearls and I need a bass amp + For band concerts / etc for a new bassist that come with drums, vocals, etc. (Loud bass very good + AMP) bassists have any suggestions, on which the bass and amp to get the range of 1000-1500 which is very good .. + does not matter About the air [4] strings sound a beginner bass (cello professional player though) if we start with the best =]

Music Man Stingray bass and Ampeg tube amp combo ... used about 1500.00. Great classic sound.
