There are three different types of microphones used to record music (in studies of major labels, indie studios and home studios alike) and are the following:

(1) Dynamic microphones.

Not a single "Best" microphone

The first important thing to understand is that there is "microphone only" solution. Each microphone is better suited to a particular type of recording.
