Why is my battery's so bad?
I have a Ludwig drum. It is a good brand and not quite cheap. It cost nearly $ 1,000. For a price like that should not sound like a drum normal? The snare sound is OK, but could be better, but my toms sound like congas. It did not sound the depths of him. It is not like the noise you hear in bands or electric batteries. Why is it like that? I listened putting the soundtrack could help and maybe the drum head is bad or I need to tighten / loosen. What is the problem?
there could be several things. 1) drum heads. you use the same leaders who accompanies the game when you bought it? buy new ones. Heads actions are terrible 2) setting. drum tuning is an art. it takes time for most looooong drummer to really understand how to tune drums. There are so many ways that you can do and so many sounds you can get from them. its really just trial and error and many experiementing to get the sound you want. get a key leg and start messing with them! 3), sometimes the battery does sound different when mic'd. This is because if the microphone is passed by a mixer, the drum sounds can be tweaked to get different sounds. 4) traps. mess around with your cash too clear. play with the tension head. adjust the tight traps. 5) do research. much of this stuff is much easier said than done. Google drum development and how to go about this experiment. Also look how sound is produced in a drum. have a better understanding of your instrument will make you better.
