Drum Set Beginner?

Hello, I am a advanced guitarist and I've been thinking of increasing my musician skills by playing the drums since I love listening to great bands with great drum beats (Led Zep, Blink, etc). I never played drums before but i am looking for a pretty good drum set for a descent price that will last me a while and not be a bunch of garbage. i was looking at ludwigs since i no theyre a big brand. could anyone help .

(price range-300-400)
news medic i actually went to the sale for guitars instead

You won't get much of a new kit for that but may find a pretty good used set in that range. Here's the thing. A so so drum kit can sound pretty good if tuned properly, but cheap cymbals will always sound like crap. I have over $1500 in just 2 crashes, a ride, a splash and hi-hats. Obviously you don't need cymbals this expensive, but get the best you can afford and always listen to them before buying. Also a thinner cymbal won't sound as bad in a cheap one as a thicker rock crash for instance will. Ludwigs or entry level Pearls would do you just fine.
