Large Bass Drum A good jazz piece for a semi-unusual jazz group?
Me and my friends have got together a jazz group for Year 12 Group Music. We need a larger repertoire than we have now. We have 4 or 5 songs, but looking for another few, and are looking for some jazz pieces that suits a group consisting of:
Sax (Alto)
Trombone
Piano
Bass
Drums
(I wish we had a trumpeter lol)
we are probably going to have to adapt to some songs and attempt some two part harmony but if there are any suggestions for songs or groups with that arrangment that are great tunes??
Thanks

I recommend the Real Books as they contain lots of jazz music, especially music by The Crusaders: Put It Where You Want It, Never Make Your Move Too Soon, Keep That Same Old Feeling, It Happens Everyday and Young Rabbits. Benny Golson's music is also there: Killer Joe, Along Came Betty, Stablemates, Whisper Not.
