The drum is one of the most important instruments of the percussion family. It is used in orchestras, ensembles of different groups, and even popular music. Timpani is an Italian word (and the plural - the singular drum), but America is always mentioned as a drum, regardless of the battery play a lot and usually you never find an individual solo timpani, two, three or four often play together.

The drum is a drum that can produce different sounds. The Timpani (a person who plays the drum) is responsible for ensuring that the field is correct, and the tone can be adjusted with various pedals. The patch is usually made from animal skin or plastic - even professional drummers prefer General animal skins for their high quality sound.

There are special harnesses exclusively for timpani. Timpani Mallets are capable of produce mild or strong tones on the drums, depending on the strength of each strike. In many works, the timpanist is required to perform crescendo battery - not easy task. The techniques used to play the timpani are numerous and require a lot of dedication and practice.

Timbaleros also have the difficult task of ensuring that every inch of his drum timpani heads are in harmony with others. If the drum heads are incompatible, since in operation, the drum becomes false, because the drums are the drums alone can produce distinctive sounds are inconsistencies that would be unacceptable. Most players drum have perfect pitch, but pitches can also be used. As mallet techniques, development of absolute pitch takes much practice and ear training.

Cushioning is different drummers also need to master a skill - when the musical notes were written years ago, the sound of drums did not resonate, whereas today. A good drummer will be able to turn to music and determine the duration of each note really should last. In addition, the timpanist must also be able to stifle his successful in time, without making sounds with your fingers to soften the original drum sounds. It is very difficult, but eventually becomes second nature. Sympathetic resonance (when drums gently vibrates and produces sound as another was beaten Timpani) drummers also an obstacle to overcome - in the level of learning or above, the sympathetic resonance is generally unacceptable.

Most drummers know how to play the drums, with varying degrees of success. If you are concerned with impact, which inevitably will be in contact with the drum. If the drum has a real interest, he would find a specific drum instructor is considered an expert on the instrument. There are many highly qualified teaching skills, learning should not be a problem, however, possess a drum is very expensive. Most people practice their skills on timpani stores music, universities or with private tutors who own cymbals.

The drums should not take place, however, a drum is very difficult to control. However, the rewards are worth it - which ultimately makes the rules of the orchestra - and the drums sets the standard for the whole orchestra or band. The instrument is vital to all great works of music, and is still used constantly in modern plays. As an essential tool learner comes to play to be very valuable.

How To Tune A Snare Drum - Part 2 of 2

LP Bata Drums

LP Bata Drums

$439

LP Founder Martin Cohen first came across bata drums more than thirty years ago at a religious ceremony in the Bronx, New York. Traditionally batas are ceremonial drums that are played in groups. At least three people sit, each with a different size drum, and act out "call and answer" patterns which are played on the drums. They were traditionally rope tuned, but today, through the use of state-of-the-art machinery, LP Bata Drums are wrench tuned. They are made from our specially selected, kiln dried, environmentally friendly Siam Oak and are the most precisely made batas available today. LP Bata Drums are available in three sizes: small or Oconcolo with 5" and 6-3/4" head sizes, medium or Omele/Itolele with 5-3/4" and 9" head sizes, and large or Iya with 6-1/2" and 12-1/2" head sizes. The shape of the shell is gracefully tapered, with increasing thickness to the smallest point, for a great, strong sounding drum. Each natural rawhide head has been carefully chosen for optimum sound quality. LP Bata Drums are available with chrome hardware and are also supplied with a black nylon neck strap, a tuning wrench and LP Lug Lube.

LP Udu Drums Claytone

LP Udu Drums Claytone

$34.95

LP Udu Drums possess distinct tonal qualities which range from subtle bass tones to soothing tabla-like tones. Their clay construction is based upon centuries-old African traditions. The name "Udu" has been derived from the Nigerian Ibo language, meaning "pottery". Each LP Udu Drum offers individual tonal values. They can be played by hitting any part of the drum with the palm of the hand or the finger tips. The textured surfaces provide additional tonal variations by creating rubbing sounds. The sound possibilities can be further expanded using the unique microphone ports found in each chamber. Small mics can be mounted for amplification and to capture the wondrous internal sounds. LP Udu Drums are generally played in a seated position with the drum on the player's lap. They can also be played on a table top or floor using the included straw ring stands. LP Udu Drum Claytones are teardrop shaped drums available in four sizes. The smallest Claytone #1, produces high-pitched, cutting, "soprano" sounds. The Claytone #2 gives a slightly fuller, more tenor sound than the #1. The Claytone #3 creates deep, powerful, "baritone" sounds. The Claytone #4 is the largest and produces the deepest and "bassiest" sound of the four drums. Each drum has a side hole in the body and a top hole in the neck for additional sound possibilities as well as textured surfaces for creating rubbing sounds.
