Finding a Simple Drums Tutorial

A drummers parctise pad is a very useful piece of kit. It enables you to get the right bounce of the drum sticks without the noise of the full drum set. Basically a practise pad is placed on top of your snare drum. It is a thick rubber pad the same size as your snare drum which produces a very light tapping noise when played. You can also get these for tom toms as well. For your bass drum you can use a muffler over the playing side skin.
To help you with your playing yo may want to buy an instructional DVD to get the correct way of playing rhythms and drum notes.
If you want to get a professional drummer to give you lessons these will be much more expensive than buying a course. The advantage is one to one tuition which offers a great way to learn difficult rhythms or even drum solos.

My son is in the 5th grade, what is a good brand of snare drum to buy him?
I would probably spend around $200 to get him everything he needs, I assume a practice pad and stick are separate, so would go up to $250 if this is the case. I want to get him a good brand that will last him a long time!
Buy quality, buy once. If he loses interest you can sell a good snare easier than a crappy one. No need for a separate practice pad, just get the kind that sits on top of the snare. One more thing, if this is for school band you need to find out what size and shell type they require, steel, wood, brass, 5", 7", 8", etc. Below are some worth looking at.
